PHOTOS: No. 3 Hamlet vs. No. 2 Carteret

HAMLET — The Hamlet American Legion baseball team suffered a season-ending loss on Saturday.

Playing a nine-inning elimination game against No. 2 Carteret, No. 3 Hamlet fell 8-4 in the second round of the Area 2 playoffs.

Tristan Hunt had a hit and team-high two runs batted in, while also pitching four innings of relief. 

Hunter Meeds recorded two hits and drove in a run, while starting pitcher Jackson Kuhn (4.0 IP) collected the team’s other RBI.

Ashton Phifer had two hits, including a double. Hamlet’s only other extra-base hit was a double from J.D. Scarbrough.

Hamlet erased a two-run deficit early and tied the game 3-3 in the fourth inning thanks to Hunt’s second sacrifice fly of the game.

Post 99 broke the game open with a five-run sixth inning. Post 49’s final run came in the ninth inning with the tying run at the plate.
