CHARLOTTE — A total of 13:01 of basketball was played during Richmond Senior High School’s season opener on Tuesday.
In a rematch of last year’s 4A state championship game, the Raiders and Myers Park Mustangs saw their game end in a postponement with 2:59 left in the second quarter.
Water leaking from the ceiling onto the court, a result of heavy rainfall, suspended the game. At the time, Richmond trailed 27-21.
Senior wing Paul McNeil Jr. netted 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds during the near-complete first half.
Adding a bucket apiece were senior point guard Javian Drake and sophomore guard Jayden Hamilton.
Leading the Mustangs on the scoreboard was Sadiq White, who scored 12 points.
At the time of publication, no make-up date had been announced by Richmond head coach Donald Pettigrew.
