ROCKINGHAM — The final day of swimming tryouts were held on Thursday for Richmond Senior High School.

Eleven girls and eight boys participated in the second tryout this week at FirstHealth Fitness’ pool, a number much higher than the past few seasons.

Led by first-year head coach Andy Shuler, swimmers spent the hour-long workout getting in as many laps as possible in the pool. They also worked on diving techniques.

Shuler is no stranger to the program, having served the past six years as the assistant coach. Roughly half of those in attendance were newcomers to the competitive side of swimming.
