ROCKINGHAM — Playing a “quality team” Wednesday, the Richmond Senior High School soccer team dropped its first match of the season.

Following Monday’s one-goal win over Piedmont, the Raiders were blanked in a 4-0 loss to Independence High School in their home opener.

Head coach Chris Larsen said he was pleased with the team’s effort, noting the Raiders are adjusting to a new formation this season.

Independence scored two goals in each half. Senior goalkeeper Adrian Padron played the majority of the game and junior Camden Williams finished the remaining 20 minutes in net.
