ROCKINGHAM — Seven players scored six points for the Richmond Senior High School football team during Friday’s playoff opener.
On their home field in the postseason for the first time since 2021, the No. 4 Raiders rushed their way to a 42-6 victory over No. 29 Topsail High School.
Jayden Hamilton, Jordan Bostick, Domonic Tillman, Keonta Pegues, Chance Crowder and Javion Smith each rushed for one touchdown.
Billy West was a perfect 6-for-6 on extra-point attempts. Head coach Brad Denson earned a victory in his postseason debut.
Richmond scored on its first four possessions and took a 28-0 lead into halftime. Terande Spencer intercepted a pass late in the first half.
A rushing touchdown in the third and fourth quarters sealed the deal for the Raiders. Topsail’s only score was a kickoff return to start the second half.
Elijah Ingram and Amir Vaughan both had a fumble recovery in the game’s final minutes.

Richmond (9-2) hosts No. 13 Clayton High School (10-1) next Friday in the second round of the 4A East playoffs.
