PHOTOS: Richmond at Gray’s Creek, 4A East playoffs

HOPE MILLS — The 2023 season came to an end for the Richmond Senior High School volleyball team on Saturday, albeit not without a good fight.

Competing in the first round of the NCHSAA 4A East state playoffs, the No. 29 Lady Raiders lost 3-0 to No. 4 Gray’s Creek High School.

Set scores were 18-25, 13-25 and 21-25. Richmond cut its deficit late in the first set and held the lead four different times in the third set.

This season, Richmond totaled an 11-12 overall record, finished fourth in the Sandhills Athletic Conference standings and went 8-6 against SAC opponents.

It was also the final high school match for eight seniors — Jenna Gardner, Kady Harris, Addyson Hollingsworth, MaKailah Jackson, Christi Jacobs, Keyoni Nichols, Allie Rodgers and Katie Way.
