LAURINBURG — The Richmond Raider football team won its fourth straight game to end the regular season on Friday.

Defeating Scotland High School 35-28, the Raiders used four total touchdowns from sophomore quarterback Domonic Tillman (three passing, one rushing).

Trailing by a touchdown in the second quarter, Tillman helped tie it up with a short rushing score to end a 99-yard scoring drive.

Richmond and Scotland (8-2, 4-2 Sandhills Athletic Conference) combined for seven touchdowns in the second half.

Senior wide receiver Javian Drake caught two passing scores, while a pick-six from junior defensive end Zach Gardner helped open the Raiders’ lead to 28-7.

Scotland answered with three rushing scores from Zay Jones to tie the game 28-all in the fourth quarter.

Tillman threw the game-winning 28-yard pass to sophomore wide receiver Jayden Hamilton, his only catch of the game, with 3:16 left in regulation.

Junior kicker Billy West split the uprights on all five of his point-after attempts.

Richmond’s defense, which made two red zone stops in the first half, held the Fighting Scots near midfield on the home team’s final offensive drive. Two incompletions on third and fourth downs turned the ball over.

Taking a knee on the final three plays of regulation, the Raiders celebrated the annual rival game victory.
