PHOTOS: Richmond at Union Pines

CAMERON — The Richmond Raider football team earned a 34-23 win over Union Pines High School on Friday.

Getting even to 4-4 on the season, the Raiders also improved to 3-1 in Sandhills Athletic Conference play.

Scoring five total touchdowns, the Raiders used a career-high three passing scores from senior quarterback Emoni McBride. Receiving those scores were juniors Jacoby Martin and Jada Zimmerman and sophomore Raymond Knotts.

McBride also had career-highs in passing yards (163) and completions (14). In the win, he completed a pass to eight different receivers. 

Senior running back Taye Spencer was responsible for the other two scores, crossing into the end zone twice on the ground. He was the game’s leading rusher with 122 yards on 19 carries.

Also having a big game was senior cornerback Brandon Askins, who blocked a punt and recovered a fumble forced by sophomore Zach Gardner. Junior linebacker Marquan Martin intercepted a pass in the second half.

Senior Isaiah Wall and sophomore Bobby Little, both linebackers, recorded a sack apiece against quarterback Ben Finkelstein.

Richmond is set to play its sixth and final road game of the season this Friday at Lee County High School (6-1, 2-1 SAC). Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
