ROCKINGHAM — Richmond Senior High School’s football season came to an end Friday, but not without a fight.

The No. 1 Raiders fell to No. 16 Leesville Road High School 19-14 in the second round of the 4A East state playoffs.

Senior Cason Douglas gave the Raiders a 7-3 lead after the first quarter when he returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score.

Adding the final touchdown was senior quarterback Kellan Hood, who ran the ball in from 3 yards with just over five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Senior Alex Medina connected on both of his point-after attempts.

The Raiders turned the ball over three times (two interceptions, one fumble), and Leesville Road scored twice as a result.

The Richmond Observer will publish a full season recap and an All-Conference article once the 2021 team is announced.
