ROCKINGHAM — Just four points decided one of Thursday’s Rockingham Parks and Recreation flag football games at Browder Park.

The Williams, Deane and Herndon team defeated Rockingham Moose Lodge 33-29 in a matchup that came down to the final few possessions.

The league, made up of players 10 to 12-years-old, is in its second week of competition.

Taking a 7-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, Rockingham Moose Lodge held an early lead. In response, two early scores by Williams, Deane and Herndon in the second stanza gave them a 20-7 advantage.

A touchdown before the half cut Rockingham Moose Lodge’s deficit to just seven points, 20-13, at the break.

Flipping the script, Rockingham Moose Lodge took its second lead of the night early in the third quarter, 21-20.

But two drives that resulted in scores spanning late in the third and early in the fourth quarter put Williams, Deane and Herndon back ahead 33-21.

A touchdown and a two-point conversion in the closing minute pulled Rockingham Moose Lodge within one possession, but the clock ran out.
