Piedmont Lift Truck Services wins Rockingham Parks and Rec girls’ pitch softball tournament

ROCKINGHAM — Rockingham Parks and Recreation’s summer softball league wrapped up last week, and Piedmont Lift Truck Services won the girls’ pitch softball league championship.

Coached by James LeVaughn Lyerly, P.T. Dawkins and Ryelan Lyerly, Piedmont Lift Truck Services capped its season with a tournament championship. During the regular season, the team, which falls in the nine to 13 age bracket, finished in second place. 

On his team winning the title, Coach James Lyerly said it was a result of “hard work and dedication.” He added that the “girls really worked hard, had fun learning, and most importantly, never gave up.”

The 14 members of this year’s championship team include: Inesha Bell, Robin Brown, Tess Bryant, Addison Butler, Taylor Crouch, Pressley Dawkins, Carley Gulledge, Nahdeya Honeycutt, Kinsie Lyerly, Rylie McDonald, Kaylan Parsons, Addison Smith, Marley Woodard and the team’s bat girl, Emma Leigh Hoffman.
