HAMLET — Thunderstorms and flash floods in the area postponed the Hamlet American Legion baseball team’s home playoff game on Friday.

No. 3 Post 49 was set to play game three of its best-of-five game series against No. 2 Carteret Post 99, but with areas of the field under water, the game couldn’t be played.

With the series tied 1-1, Hamlet will have a chance to take the second round series of the Area 2 tournament on Saturday.

Head coach Chip Gordon announced that games three and four will both be played as a doubleheader.

Game three, which will see Jackson Kuhn pitch for Hamlet, is set for 2 p.m. at Memorial Park. Game four will start around 5 p.m.
