ROCKINGHAM — With a rainy weekend forecast on the horizon, the owners of Rockingham Dragway have decided to postpone one of the track’s signature events until the fall.

Mopars at the Rock, now in its 32nd year, has been moved to Saturday, Nov. 18, co-owner Dan VanHorn announced on social media Wednesday.
The test and tune for Friday has been canceled.

“Well we tried to wait it out but at this point we have to reschedule the event,” he said in the post. “Given how many folks travel for Mopars at The Rock we want it to be fair to all involved. Luckily we found a spot that we feel will be a great new date.”

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to move into the area Thursday evening, with a high percentage of showers Friday through Saturday and a 40% chance of precipitation on Sunday.

Although there have been showers the past two weekends, Dragway officials were able to carry on with scheduled events.

VanHorn said all pre-sold tickets for Mopars at the Rock will automatically transfer to the new date.
