“THROWING HEAT” WITH QUSTON LEVINER

Earning wins against Sandhills Athletic Conference opponents Pinecrest and Hoke County, the Lady Raiders secured their playoff spot before entering a two-week hiatus.

Leviner played a large role in the pair of victories, including pitching a pair of complete games. Across the two wins, she threw 14.0 innings and gave up seven runs (three earned) on 15 hits.

Dicing up the batters, Leviner combined for 21 total strikeouts (10 against Pinecrest and 11 against Hoke County). She ended the week with a 1.50 earned run average.

Equally impressive at the plate, Leviner batted 5-for-7 (.714 average) with a trio of singles and a pair of doubles. She drove in two runs while crossing home plate a team-high five times.

In a 9-5 victory against the Lady Patriots, Leviner helped her cause with a 3-for-3 night at the plate with a double, an RBI, a walk and three runs scored. A base knock  by her in the sixth scored a run to give Richmond a 7-3 lead.

Two nights later, Richmond completed another season sweep, this time in 7-2 fashion against the Lady Bucks. A 2-for-4 night at the dish resulted in a single and a double, and RBI and two more runs scored.

Smacking a double in the top of the fourth, Leviner scored teammate Addy Hollingsworth and traded spots with Katie Way in the next at-bat to extend the lead to 4-1.

During Richmond’s 13 games this season, Leviner has pitched all but three innings and has 11 wins. Spending 82.0 innings in the circle, Leviner has held opposing batters to a .252 average with 99 strikeouts and a 3.07 ERA.

She’s also recorded at least 10 strikeouts in a game five different times this season, including her last two outings.
