RAEFORD — A stronger second-half performance didn’t yield the results the Richmond boys’ soccer team wanted on Monday.

The Raiders suffered their first Sandhills Athletic Conference loss of the season at Hoke County High School.

Richmond allowed all of its goals-against in the first half of a 3-0 defeat.

The loss came after Richmond tied Pinecrest last week and defeated Southern Lee a day later.

Scoring for the Bucks (9-2, 1-1 SAC) were Leo Ramirez, Dinari Bascombe and Jonathan Pena.

“We didn’t play our best tonight and dug ourselves a hole in the first half,” head coach Chris Larsen said. “We out-hustled Hoke County for most of the night, but couldn’t get anything going offensively.

“I thought the guys regrouped really well at halftime, but we couldn’t find the back of the net to shift the tide. We’re looking to bounce back on Wednesday.”

The Raiders (3-3-1, 1-1-1 SAC) will play once more this week, on the road Wednesday at Union Pines (2-6, 0-1 SAC). Action is set for 7 p.m.

JV Raiders earn road win

The Richmond junior varsity boys’ soccer team added a win to its season total on Monday.

Also on the road at Hoke County, the JV Raiders secured a 3-1 victory.

Tied 1-1 at the break, Richmond netted two second-half goals. Sophomore Dougie Dickinson scored twice, bringing his total to four goals in the last two games
