ROCKINGHAM — A weekly tradition continued for the Richmond Senior High School football team ahead of Thanksgiving.
Thanks to a second round playoff win, five players were tabbed as “players of the week” by the coaching staff.
The Raiders eliminated Clayton High School 24-13 last Friday thanks to a passing score, a field goal and two second-half rushing touchdowns.
The players of the week are:
Offense: Kamel Tillman (sophomore offensive tackle)
Defense: Chris Covington (senior defensive back)
Special Teams: K’Mauri Morgan (senior linebacker)
Practice: Demonte Martin (junior defensive tackle)
Weight Room: Nicholas Griggs (senior wide receiver)
Top Guns Strength and Performance Gym, which sponsors the weekly shoutout of the Raider football players, presented each of the players of the week with a t-shirt.
Head coach Brad Denson and the Richmond football staff select each week’s players based on performance in their respective area.
The No. 4 Raiders (10-2) play No. 5 Rolesville High School (11-1) Friday at home in the third round of the state playoffs. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
