Hamlet Middle Batters Cordova, Takes Both Games of Doubleheader
CORDOVA – The Hamlet Lady Red Rams went on the road Thursday and swept the Cordova Cavaliers in a double header 2-0, 2-0.
The team, according to head coach Alex Gardner, was more confident coming into this game since their first match of the season was behind them, even after the injury to one of their captains and leaders, Kaitlyn Huff.
Hamlet seventh grader Quston Leviner had another strong performance, and led the way for the team with 15 aces and one kill. Ellie Buck, Katie Way, Erial Norton, and Kiersten Leviner were also key contributors.
Buck had nine aces and two kills, Way added seven aces, Norton had six aces, and Gibson finished with t five aces.
“I’m very impressed with how aggressive the girls played,” Gardner said. “They seemed more comfortable on the court today, and the way they followed the ball to the net and went for more attacks showed me how great their potential really is.”
The Lady Red Rams will face possibly its toughest competition on the year, and will host Rockingham on Monday, Sept. 25, at 4 p.m.
