RCS Middle School Sports Report: Rockingham Middle Volleyball Blanks Anson Orange in Both Matches Monday

RICHMOND COUNTY — As middle school sports season is officially underway, The Richmond Observer is also proud to announce that it will be highlighting the county’s middle school athletes in its new feature “Middle School Sports Report.”

Rockingham Middle School’s girls volleyball team hosted Anson Middle School’s Orange team Monday. The Lady Rockets won both matches of the doubleheader, taking the first match 25-5, 25-7. The Lady Bearcats put up a tougher fit in the second match, but ultimately fell 25-10, 25-20.

Head coach Teresa Mason, who also is a physical education teacher at Rockingham Middle, submitted the following player stats for the Lady Rockets:

Allyiah Swiney: 27 points.

E.J. Davis: 22 points.

Catherine Dennis: 15 points.

Joy Styles: 15 points.

Madison Jenkins: 11 points.

Kenleigh Frye: 10 points.

The Lady Rockets will be on the road Thursday to face Southeast Middle School Athletic Conference opponent Ellerbe Wildcats. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m. at 128 Ballard Street, Ellerbe, N.C.
