LAURINBURG — A late-season slide continued for the Lady Raider softball team on Monday, which lost its fourth straight game.

Ending the regular season on the road at Scotland High School, and making up a rainout from last week, Richmond was shutout for the first time this season.

Facing the Sandhills Athletic Conference regular-season winning Lady Scots, Richmond suffered a 10-0 loss in five innings.

The Lady Raiders only collected one hit in the game, a single to right field by senior catcher Macy Steen in the top of the fourth inning.

Steen’s base knock to the opposite field proved to be Richmond’s only base runner in the game off starting pitcher Sydnee Dial (CG, 6 strikeouts).

Scotland scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning before adding six runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game early.

The Lady Raiders (11-6, 8-4 SAC) will look to turn things around in the SAC tournament later this week.

As the No. 3 seed, Richmond will travel to No. 2 Union Pines (12-7, 9-3 SAC) on Wednesday for the second round and a chance to play in the title game.

This season, the Lady Raiders and Lady Vikings have split their two-game series, with the home team winning each game.
