ROCKINGHAM — The plan came together pretty quickly one afternoon this past week, but members of Richmond Senior High School’s athletic department hope it pays off.

Athletic director Mike Way posted to the Raider Athletics Facebook page Thursday that the school will be holding a 50/50 raffle fundraiser the next two weeks.

Open to the public, the fundraiser will raise money that will be put in Richmond’s general athletics fund, which will benefit the needs of all the school’s athletic programs.

Tickets started going on sale at Friday’s basketball game against Hoke County. Way shared that a total of $415 was raised Friday and the amount “is quite a bit higher” at the time of publication.

The fundraiser will run through Friday, Feb. 16, and the winner will be drawn during halftime of the Raiders’ home basketball game against Scotland High School.

“You do not have to be present to win, but let’s be honest, who is gonna miss the Scotland game,” Way posted.

Tickets are $5 for one and $10 for three chances to win. Those interested can purchase tickets during home sporting events or in the school’s front office during regular school hours.

Way added that he and head football coach Brad Denson can also be contacted to purchase tickets or with questions.
