Richmond Senior High Fall Sports Tryout Dates Released

ROCKINGHAM – With the fall sports season quickly approaching, Richmond Senior High School’s athletics department has unveiled its tryout dates.

For any academically eligible RSHS student interested in trying out for fall sports, he or she must complete all parts of the school’s pre-participation packet. An online version can be found by visiting the school’s athletics website at http://www.richmond.k12.nc.us/RSHS/1517-Untitled.html, or athletic director Ricky Young can be reached in the athletics office at (910) 997-9820. Without the proper paperwork completed correctly and in its entirety, potential athletes will not be allowed to attend tryouts or practices, per the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.

All eligible athletes, grades nine through 12, are invited and encouraged to tryout.  Athletes trying out for their respected sports are expected to show up on time and be properly attired for activities.

Below are the dates and information regarding RSHS’ fall 2017 sports tryouts:

Raiders Cross Country (Boys and Girls)

Head coach Reggie Miller will be holding tryouts for boys and girls interested in running cross country on Monday, July 31, 2017. Runners should report to the RSHS football stadium at 7:30 p.m.

Raiders Football

Summer workouts have been underway the last few weeks, but official tryouts for the football team begin Monday, July 31, 2017. Players are to report to the high school practice fields at 7 a.m. For more direct questions, contact head coach Bryan Till.

Raiders Soccer (Boys)

The boys’ soccer team, coached by Bennie Howard, will continue to hold voluntary summer workouts this week (Monday through Thursday) from 5:30 p.m. through 7 p.m. at the RSHS soccer field. Any boy interested in trying out must report to the soccer field for two tryout dates on Monday, July 31, and Tuesday, August 1, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Raiders Tennis (Girls)

Girls interested in playing tennis should report to the RSHS tennis courts on Monday, July 31, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. For more details, contact head coach Mike Way.

Raiders Volleyball

Volleyball tryouts will be held by head coach Shellie Wimpey on Tuesday, August 1, through Thursday, August 3, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Girls interested should report to the RSHS gymnasium. 

Raiders Golf (Girls)

Tryout information will be announced during the first few weeks of school. Any questions can be answered by calling head coach Jeff Ingram through the athletics office.
