ROCKINGHAM — A new initiative this season by the Richmond Raider football program is recognizing its top varsity players each game week.
Partnering with Top Guns Strength and Performance Gym, the Raiders will name “players of the week” in five separate categories: offense, defense, special teams, practice and weight room.
Head coach Brad Denson said he was “appreciative” of Top Guns for sponsoring the push to put a spotlight on the program’s top weekly players. Each week, players named will receive a t-shirt from Top Guns.
Following the Raiders’ Week 1 showdown with Seventy-First High School, the players of the week are:
Offense: Evan Hodges (junior quarterback)
Defense: Terande Spencer (junior linebacker)
Special Teams: Jayden Hamilton (junior returner)
Practice: Jaidyn Brown (senior defensive lineman)
Weight Room: K’Mauri Morgan (senior linebacker)
The Raiders’ players of the week are selected by Denson and the coaching staff based on each player’s contributions and achievements in the respected category.
Richmond (0-1) will play its home opener Friday against non-conference Butler High School (0-1) at 7:30 p.m.
