ROCKINGHAM — With the National Weather Service placing the likelihood of high winds and heavy rains from Hurricane Ian at 100 percent on Friday and 80 percent on Saturday, Rockingham Dragway and Outlaw Diesel Super Series officials reluctantly have canceled this weekend’s Rudy’s Fall Truck Jam.

In a post on the Rudy’s Fall Truck Jam Facebook page, officials explained that “with racers, spectators and sponsors traveling from across the nation to be a part of this event, our number one priority is the safety of everyone involved. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, we are unable to reschedule the Rudy’s Fall Truck Jam. We look forward to working with Rockingham Dragway to make the next Rudy’s Truck Jam event the best yet!”

“It’s very disappointing,” said Rockingham Dragway owner Steve Earwood, “because we’ve been trying to bring this event to The Rock for several years and had a lot of momentum building up to it. Unfortunately, the weather isn’t going to cooperate and there were no options for rescheduling this late in the year.

“The good news is that there already was a ‘Diesels at The Rock’ event scheduled for Nov. 12 and Rudy’s racers and fans can look forward to the Rudy’s Spring Truck Jam at the Rock on April 22-23, 2023.”
