PINEHURST — For the final time this season, a trio of Richmond Senior High School golfers competed on Tuesday.

The Sandhills Athletic Conference golf season drew to a close at Pinehurst No. 6, as two juniors and one sophomore played an 18-hole round for Richmond.

Juniors Jacey McRae and Ella Munn, along with sophomore Emma Humann, combined to shoot the team’s best combined score of the season. Richmond ended its season with a final posting of 350.

“Sad to see our season end, for sure,” head coach Keith Parsons said. “I guess the good news is all should be back next season. Ella, Jacey and Emma all showed so much improvement this season, and that continued Tuesday.

“Ella made two pars, the first time she’s done that in a single round, and Emma made her first par,” he added. “And Jacey used a new swing through to hit some of the best shots of the season. I appreciate them so much.”

Playing on the Tom and George Fazio designed course, Munn led the team with a final score of 107. She shot a 52 on the front, followed by a 55 on the back nine for her best individual score this fall.

Humann was next on the team with a 121 (62, 59), which was also her best 18-hole score this season. She was followed by McRae, who ended the season with a 122 (60, 62).

Pinecrest High School took first overall and the SAC championship title with a team score of 219.

Seven Lady Patriots were named to the All-Conference team, led by individual champion Camilah Porras, who averaged 34.6 strokes per nine holes.

Earning second through fourth place in the final match, respectively, were Lee County (280), Union Pines (289) and Scotland (339) high schools.

The Lady Raiders finished the season in fifth place in the SAC standings with 11.5 points, ahead of Southern Lee High School (6.5 points).

None of Richmond’s three golfers qualified for the NCHSAA 4A Mideast regional tournament. To qualify, Parsons said, an average of less than 50 strokes per nine holes was needed.

Munn just missed the cut, leading the Lady Raiders with an average of 53.4 strokes. Humann (59.0) and McRae (59.8) followed.

Pinecrest finished as the 4A team qualifier for regionals, while Union Pines and Lee County qualified as teams for 3A.
