ROCKINGHAM — The recognition of the Lady Raider soccer team’s senior players will have to wait a couple of days.

Friday’s originally scheduled senior night match was postponed due to the potential for severe weather.

According to the National Weather Service, Richmond County is under a tornado watch until 10 p.m. on Friday.

Richmond Senior High School athletic director Rob Ransom and head soccer coach Chris Larsen confirmed the postponement with The Richmond Observer.

The Lady Raiders will now see their final regular-season Sandhills Athletic Conference match played at home on Monday.

Richmond (8-10-1, 3-7-1 SAC) will host rival Scotland (3-13-2, 0-10-1 SAC) at 6 p.m.

Prior to the match, the Lady Raiders’ six senior players will be celebrated.

This year’s senior class includes Stephanie Alvarado, Destiny Barrick, Ellie Buck, Paxlee Faircloth, Kaitlyn Huff and Meghan McKenzie.

Larsen said he’s not sure how Monday’s make-up match will impact the Sandhills Athletic Conference tournament.

The Lady Raiders are currently fifth in the SAC standings.
