ROCKINGHAM — River Meacham, a senior midfielder for the Richmond Senior High School soccer team, is the next student-athlete to give Raider fans an update.

Meacham, along with roughly 20 of his fellow varsity teammates, has been participating in voluntary workouts for two weeks. The Raiders, which would normally be in the midst of a playoff hunt, won’t play their season until January due to the coronavirus.

As a junior, Meacham played in several games for Richmond and head coach Chris Larsen. This season, however, he’s looking to make a bigger impact in the middle of the field. The Raiders will play a 14-game, conference-only schedule, which will make the race for the playoffs competitive.

In his video interview, Meacham talks about the pros and cons of a winter season, as well as the team getting back in shape during conditioning. He also talks about his role as a senior and the leadership that comes with it, expressing he wants to help the Raiders stay focused.
