ROCKINGHAM — Seeing its season-long losing streak reach three matches, the Lady Raider soccer team couldn’t get back in the win column Friday.

Meeting Lee County High School for the first of two regular-season Sandhills Athletic Conference matches, Richmond suffered a 7-0 defeat.

The Lady Yellow Jackets (15-4, 7-2 SAC) scored four goals in the first half and added a trio of tallies in the final 40 minutes.

Gillian Garrison scored five goals, including a hat trick in the first 19 minutes of the match. Adding one goal each were Lila Moshfegh and Lily Currin.

“I told the girls even though the score was what it was, we did do better overall than we have the last few nights,” head coach Chris Larsen said. “I thought we did a better job of winning the ball out of the air and trying to connect more passes.

“Our defense played well at times but we gave (Lee County) too many open looks and chances to score,” he added. “It didn’t help that we continued to struggle to get our offense going. We’ve got three matches left so hopefully we can figure out the pieces and put them in the right place.”

The final week of the regular season begins Tuesday for the Lady Raiders (7-9-3, 3-6-1 SAC), who will travel to non-conference Clinton High School (12-7). The match will start at 6 p.m.
