FAYETTEVILLE — The Lady Raider volleyball team couldn’t figure out how to get over its “mid-game hump” Wednesday.

Continuing a season-long seven match losing streak, Richmond Senior High School and head coach Ashleigh Larsen stepped out of conference play.

On the road at Pine Forest High School, the Lady Raiders couldn’t finish off the two-match regular-season sweep of the Lady Trojans. Pine Forest took the match 3-0.

Set scores were 18-25, 22-25 and 21-25.

Richmond (5-9, 1-5 SAC) will return to its home court to host Southern Lee High School (5-7, 0-6 SAC) Thursday. First serve for the Sandhills Athletic Conference match is scheduled for 6 p.m.

JV Lady Raiders also fall

In junior varsity action Wednesday, the Richmond JV volleyball team also lost in straight sets.

The JV Lady Raiders came up short 2-0 to Pine Forest. Set scores were 16-25 and 18-25.

“We just couldn’t find our groove,” head coach Melissa Dennis explained. “Pine Forest was getting their hands on everything. We would get some good passes and then not connect at the net.

“We didn’t have the same momentum and energy as we did (Tuesday) against Scotland.”

The JV Lady Raiders (6-7, 3-3 SAC) will also host Lee County Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m.
