The Week Ahead: All RSHS programs to play conference opponents

All of Richmond's winter sports teams will play SAC opponents this week. (Kyle Pillar, sports editor)

ROCKINGHAM — Each of Richmond Senior High School’s winter sports programs will compete against Sandhills Athletic Conference opponents this week.

The boys’ and girls’ basketball teams, along with the wrestling team, will all open SAC play for the first time.

Richmond’s bowling, indoor track and field and swimming teams will each continue conference competition.

Lady Raiders to open conference play

The Lady Raider basketball team (2-3) will start SAC action on Tuesday at home against Pinecrest High School (0-4) at 6 p.m.

Wednesday will feature a non-conference home game against Wilson High School (Florence, S.C.). That matchup will start at 5:30 p.m.

Richmond’s junior varsity girls’ basketball team (2-1) will travel to Pinecrest (5 p.m.) and Wilson on both days (6 p.m.).

Raider basketball ready for Pinecrest in lone game

After back-to-back weekends filled with games, the Raider basketball team (3-1) will host the Pinecrest Patriots (2-1) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

It’s Richmond’s only game of the week before hosting Southern Lee High School on Dec. 11.

The JV Raiders (0-1) get back on the court for the first time in two weeks with a road game at Pinecrest on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Wrestling to host home conference meet

The Richmond wrestling program (0-4) is set to open SAC action with its lone home meet of the season on Wednesday.

The Raiders will welcome in Hoke County, Lee County and Pinecrest. The match will be held at Ninth Grade Academy and start at 6 p.m.

Bowling, indoor track and field and swimming geared up for second SAC meets

The boys’ and girls’ swimming teams will compete in their second SAC meet of the winter on Wednesday. Events will start at 6:15 p.m. at the Leach Aquatic Center in Raeford.

On Thursday, the second SAC bowling match of the winter will be held in Laurinburg at 4 p.m. The Raiders (0-2) and Lady Raiders (1-1) will face Hoke County and Union Pines high schools.

And on Saturday, the boys’ and girls’ indoor track and field teams will travel to Pinecrest for another Polar Bear meet. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
