Raider soccer slated for trio of matches in week two

After splitting its first two matches to start the new season, the Raiders (1-1) and head coach Chris Larsen will compete in three more non-conference matches.

First the Raiders will travel to Sun Valley High School (1-1) Monday, followed by a home match with Porter Ridge High School (2-1) Thursday, two of the team’s tougher non-conference opponents. Both matches will start at 7 p.m.

Richmond will round out the week by facing Rolesville High School (3-0) Saturday at 11 a.m. The match will be played at Middle Creek High School as part of the North Carolina High School Coaches Association’s Kickoff Classic.

The JV Raiders (1-1) will travel to Sun Valley Monday (5:30 p.m.) and host Porter Ridge Thursday (5:15 p.m.).

Lady Raider volleyball set for two non-conference matches

The Lady Raiders (2-1) and head coach Ashleigh Larsen had a loaded start to its season last week with three matches on consecutive nights.

Dialing it back this week, Richmond will continue its no-conference slate with one away match at Montgomery Central High School (1-1) Tuesday, followed by a home match Thursday against Uwharrie Charter Academy (4-0).

The two varsity matches will begin around 6 p.m. upon the conclusion of the junior varsity team’s matches.

The JV Lady Raiders (1-1) will follow the same travel schedule and play at 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.

Girls’ tennis begins play

Becoming the third team to begin competition this fall, the Lady Raider tennis team will begin with two matches this week. Richmond and head coach Jessica Covington will play a conference-only schedule this season.

Both matches this week will be on the road for the Lady Raiders. They’ll travel to Southern Lee High School Tuesday and then Pinecrest High School Thursday. Singles play for both meetings will begin at 4 p.m.
