ROCKINGHAM — Most of this week’s action for Richmond Senior High School’s winter sports programs will be on the road.

Aside from a pair of home Sandhills Athletic Conference varsity basketball games on Monday, Richmond’s teams will play both in and out of state.

Lady Raider basketball to play one SAC game

Looking to extend their season-long winning streak to three games, the Lady Raiders (4-3, 1-0 SAC) will host Southern Lee High School (0-5, 0-0 SAC) on Monday at 6 p.m.

That will be the team’s only game until Richmond hosts Westover High School on Dec. 19.

The Richmond junior varsity girls’ basketball team (3-2, 1-0 SAC) will not return to action until January.

Raider hoops ready for three-game week

Also set to host Southern Lee on Monday, the Raiders (4-1, 1-0 SAC) will look to hand the Cavaliers (7-0, 0-0 SAC) their first loss of the season. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Later in the week, Richmond will travel to Georgia to play in the Allen Iverson Classic. The Raiders will play host Grovetown High School (2-4) on Friday at 8 p.m. and face Gainesville High School (Ga., 0-7) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The JV Raiders’ (0-2, 0-1 SAC) will host the JV Cavaliers on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Swim teams to host SAC meet

Back in the pool at the James A. Leach Aquatic Center for the third time this season, the Richmond boys’ and girls’ swim teams will host the first of their two SAC meets.

Both teams improved their overall scores between the first two matches and will look to do the same. The first event in Raeford will start at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Bowling teams set to compete in third SAC meet

The Raiders (2-2) and Lady Raiders (1-3) will bowl against Scotland and Southern Lee high schools in their third dual match of the season.

Richmond’s boys picked up a pair of wins last week and the girls’ team will try to re-enter the win column. The first match at the Sandhills Bowling Center is set to start at 4 p.m.

Wrestling to compete at non-conference quad match

On Friday, the Raider wrestling team (1-5) will compete in a four-team quad match at non-conference North Moore High School.
