Basketball teams set for Pinecrest, Hoke County

Richmond’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are both in first place with undefeated records against Sandhills Athletic Conference opponents. The Raiders and Lady Raiders will look to keep that streak alive with two SAC games this week.

Up first is a road trip to Pinecrest High School Tuesday. The Lady Raiders (15-4, 7-0 SAC) will tip-off at 6 p.m. against the fourth-place Lady Patriots (5-11, 3-3 SAC), followed by the Raiders (14-5, 7-0 SAC) at 7:30 p.m. against the fifth-place Patriots (8-7, 2-4 SAC).

Returning home Friday, Richmond will try to sweep the sixth-place Lady Bucks (3-14, 1-6 SAC) and the third-place Bucks (11-6, 3-3 SAC). Games will start at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Bowling teams to compete in regular-season finale

After bowling two matches in each of their meets this season, the Raider and Lady Raider bowling teams will roll just one time this week.

Heading to Laurinburg Lanes Thursday, the Raiders (9-5) and Lady Raiders (8-6) will close their regular season against Scotland High School. The first game will start at 4 p.m.

The SAC championship for both teams is scheduled for Feb. 7 (girls) and Feb. 8 (boys) at the Sandhills Bowling Center.

Swimming, wrestling await announcement of regional qualifiers

With their regular seasons in the books, Richmond’s boys’ and girls’ swimming teams, along with its wrestling program, will wait to see if they have any NCHSAA regional qualifiers this season.
