
CHESTERFIELD, S.C. — A momentum swing in the third quarter of Friday’s game helped the Richmond Senior High School boys’ basketball team to another victory.
Keeping their season-long three-game winning streak alive, the Raiders defeated Chesterfield High School in the semifinal round of the Lugoff Christmas Classic.
Using a plus 13-point differential in the third quarter to open its lead, Richmond cruised to a 49-22 win over the host Chesterfield Golden Rams.
Nine players scored in the game for the Raiders, led by senior Davion Ingram’s 11 points and junior Jayden Hamilton’s 10 points.
Ingram shot 4-for-9 from the field with one three-pointer and Hamilton finished 3-for-10 shooting with a pair of triples.
Following their double-digit scoring outings the night before, seniors Ahaiver McDonald and Keyonta Davis added nine and seven points, respectively.
Junior Domonic Tillman and freshman Donovan Jones each contributed four points, senior Ali Tyson made a field goal for two points and junior Amer Morrison and sophomore Chance Crowder both connected on one free throw.
The Raiders led 13-8 after the first quarter and built their halftime lead to 30-14. A 15-2 run in the pivotal third quarter extended Richmond’s lead to 45-16.
A low-scoring fourth stanza saw the Golden Rams outscore the Raiders 6-4 before the final buzzer.
The Raiders (4-7) will play for the Lugoff Christmas Classic championship Saturday against McBee (9-2) at 8:30 p.m.
