“PINS AND WINS” WITH WILLIAM WHITE

No stranger to the lanes, White has raised the bar even higher during his senior season. Last week, Richmond bowled two more Sandhills Athletic Conference matches against Hoke County and Union Pines high schools.

The Raiders defeated the Bucks 5-0, winning all four games and adding the extra point thanks to knocking down a higher total pin count. Richmond’s outcome against Union Pines was undetermined due to the Vikings not participating because of the power outage last week.

Against the Bucks, the Raiders tallied scores of 185-134, 132-97, 121-108 and 189-121 to take the match 627-460. White recorded four strikes and five spares in the win.

In the first game, White closed out all three of his frames with two nine-pin spares and a strike in the 10th frame. He followed with a strike in the second game and a pair of spares in the third game.

Sealing the deal in the fourth game, White rolled another nine-pin spare in the fifth frame. In the 10th, he knocked down consecutive strikes and added seven more pins on the final roll to complete the team’s highest game total of the match.

The Raiders still bowled their four games for the Union Pines match and White recorded another three strikes and four spares. Scores were 156, 113, 118 and 162 for a team pin total of 549.

White had a strike and a spare in the first game, another spare in the second and third games and closed the day with two strikes and final spare in the fourth game.

Richmond (2-1, 8 points) will return to action on Thursday with a match against Lee County High School. The match will be bowled in Aberdeen, starting at 4 p.m.
