In the wake of Hurricane Harvey's destruction along the eastern coast of Texas this week, the Richmond County Historical Society retraces steps into Richmond County's past experiences with tragic flooding.

RICHMOND COUNTY – A new buzz can be found circulating around Richmond County that sees young, energetic adults taking charge. And now more than ever, the year and a half old organization is seeking new members to help the community thrive.

HAMLET – Season ticket subscriber David Wood of Rockingham renews his seat for the DeWitt Series’ 2017-2018 series at Cole Auditorium with Auditorium Director Joey Bennett.

In a room packed with constituents of North Carolina's ninth congressional district, United States Congressman Robert Pittenger was met with supporters and opponents at the town hall event he hosted in Richmond County on Wednesday afternoon at Rockingham City Hall.

Christopher Robson, 44, was charged on Monday for the murder of Joseph and Katherine Cassidy, and is being held for that charge on no bond.

HAMLET – Richmond Community College’s longtime partnership with the International Textile Group (ITG) continues to grow, as the College will be providing $33,843 in state-funded training for 70 employees. Some of the training will include operation of new equipment the Cordova plant is purchasing for increased efficiency in its production lines.

HAMLET – Richmond Community College’s Small Business Center will present a free seminar on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2017, for those interested in how to increase their credit score.

HAMLET – While Richmond County continues to blossom with new businesses, a sudden buzz was created for local community members to check out Creative Beauty and Nail Academy, located at 21 W. Hamlet Avenue.

HAMLET – The fall season is quickly approaching, which is synonymous with the City of Hamlet’s Seaboard Festival. In conjunction with the festival, the 32nd annual Seaboard Festival 5k race is accepting registrations.

ROCKINGHAM – As the 16th anniversary of the tragic September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks approaches, the Rockingham Fire Department will hold a memorial walk to honor the nearly 3,000 victims who perished on that Tuesday morning.
