RICHMOND COUNTY - On Tuesday, May 15th and Wednesday, May 16th, following a Richmond County Department of Social Services report of possible child abuse, sheriff’s deputies investigated the situation and made arrests in conjunction with the case. 

ROCKINGHAM - An enjoyable evening of great food and wines, entertainment by the amazing Paula Carlson, the opportunity to make new friends, as well as donate to a very worthy cause—all of this was on the agenda for the Humane Society of Richmond County on Saturday night, May 12, at Ella’s Ballroom at 503 Rockingham Road in Rockingham, NC at Pour for a Paw.

Memorial Day Flag Project

ROCKINGHAM - Memorial Day is a very special time for America as we remember those who died while serving in the country’s military.

It is observed on the last Monday of May which this year will be on Monday, May 28th. 

Some confuse Memorial Day with Veterans' Day. The difference is that on Veterans' Day we celebrate all the U.S. military veterans who have served; on Memorial Day we remember those who lost their lives while serving.

ROCKINGHAM - The Richmond County Chamber of Commerce Connections After 5 for May was held Thursday, May 10 in downtown Rockingham.

ELLERBE - The inaugural Ellerbe Strawberry Festival was a huge success and a happy day in the town of Ellerbe.

HAMLET - The Richmond County Sheriff’s Department issued a report on May 9th regarding recent arrests for drug related offenses.

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Motorsports Hall of Famer Tommy Mauney cruised to victory in the Extreme Outlaw Pro Mod portion of Saturday’s Spring Extreme Drags at Rockingham Dragway while Richfield’s Allen Furr and Riegelwood’s Michael Smith grabbed off the Footbrake and Top ET titles, respectively.
