RCS Open House Schedule

HAMLET -- Richmond County Schools will host its annual "open house" event Thursday, August 24, 2017.

ROCKINGHAM – On Tuesday, Richmond County Emergency Management held a “topping off” ceremony at the construction site of the new Emergency Services Complex.

HAMLET -- Scholarship money is available for the NCCER Electrical Level I program offered through Richmond Community College’s Workforce and Economic Development division. The scholarships will cover all tuition, books and fees, as well as specific supplies needed for the class.

FAYETTEVILLE – Congressman Robert Pittenger, Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Subcommittee on Terrorism and Illicit Finance, had this statement following President Trump’s address on Afghanistan:

“President Trump seeks an enduring outcome as he recognizes the vacuum that will occur with failure.  With twenty Islamic terrorist groups active in Afghanistan and nuclear arms in Pakistan, a precipitous exit will be dangerous to America. In contrast to the previous Administration, our Generals will be authorized to execute support for the Afghan government and military to win this war.”

Congressman Pittenger recently returned from a national security trip to the Middle East with House Leadership, working to increase international collaboration in the fight against Islamic jihad and enhance efforts to intercept terrorism financing.

Richmond County Celebrates the Solar Eclipse

ROCKINGHAM – If you weren’t at Leath Memorial Library Monday, then you were in the minority. As the day dawned, people began filing in line outside the library doors in preparation for a solar eclipse celebration.

HAMLET – The Richmond County Schools Board of Education held a meeting Monday evening at its central office location at 118 Vance Street.
