Pepsi and Walmart Come Together to Show Appreciation

ROCKINGHAM— Pepsi teamed up with Walmart yesterday afternoon for a cookout that included free food and entertainment.

ROCKINGHAM – As summer break is dwindling away and students and teachers alike are preparing to return to the classroom, Rockingham Middle School is welcoming in its third principal in as many years.

ROCKINGHAM — Local business owners and community members met Thursday night at Discovery Place in the latest edition of "Connections After Five" at Discovery Place in downtown Rockingham in celebration of the importance of staying connected with others in county.

ROCKINGHAM— In the past few days, the county has seen a number of accidents, many of which only involved a single-vehicle.

HAMLET – The grand celebration and membership drive kick-off for the President’s Club of Richmond Community College will now be held Sept 28 starting at 6 p.m. at the Cole Auditorium.


The President’s Club is an exclusive club for alumni and other individuals interested in supporting and connecting with RichmondCC.

ROCKINGHAM — Hundreds of shoppers gathered at Lidl on Thursday morning to see what the new grocery store has to offer.

The parking lot of the German grocery chain was packed full of shoppers, anticipating good deals. And the line outside, wrapped around the side of the building, while the staff greeted customers and handed out reusable shopping bags. Doors opened at 8:00 a.m. following a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Steve Morris.

TROY – With an industrial community that includes such varied commodities as lumber, footwear, braided rugs and furniture and an employee base that numbers in the thousands, Montgomery County seemed the perfect place for FirstHealth of the Carolinas to pilot its new Occupational Health & Wellness program.

Tuesday Night Storms Cause Vehicle Accidents, More Damage

CORDOVA — On Tuesday evening an unexpected hailstorm made its way through Cordova.


The National Weather Service issued a Flashflood Warning for Richmond County around 7:30p.m. This was followed by heavy rain and a hailstorm in the Cordova area that lasted for only a matter of minutes; however, the damage left in its wake has residents questioning if the storm was something more.

HAMLET – Ten graduates of the Practical Nursing program at Richmond Community College exited the Cole Auditorium on July 18 with lighted lamps in a symbolic gesture of beginning a journey into a noble profession.
