ROCKINGHAM – Discovery Place Kids in downtown Rockingham has announced that it will be closed starting Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 through Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, its annual maintenance and staff training.

HAMLET – The City of Hamlet is introducing a new Android and iPhone app that keeps local residents up to date with the going-ons around town.

HAMLET – In an effort to educate local teenagers about how to successfully navigate everyday life, the Richmond County Health Education Department held its inaugural “Kickback at the Cole” event Saturday.

New Alco Opening in Hamlet

Hamlet has a new addition that offers fuel for your vehicle as well as your belly. Alco, at the corner of Highway 74 and 177, opened for business on August 18 and the adjoining Dairy Queen opens on Monday, August 28. This dual-purpose enterprise has been 5 months in the making.

ELLERBE – Birthday celebrations are annual events that spotlight the person turning one year older. But for one local seventh grader, whose tiny frame holds such a large and caring heart, her birthday is about helping people who need more than she does.

Rockingham, N.C. – The Sandhills AGInnovation Center is a facility owned by Richmond County, providing marketing assistance to produce farmers in the region. The center, funded by the county and the Golden LEAF Foundation features coolers, equipment rentals and a processing room. Commonly called a food hub, this facility has been in the planning and development phases for the past three years.

The Ribbon Cutting and Open House will be held on September 7, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the SAIC located at 1298 Crawford Road in Ellerbe. RICHMOND COUNTY – Parents and students, new and returning, ranging from kindergarten to high school, scrambled across the Richmond County to visit schools during Richmond County School’s “open house” Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
