HAMLET —  Officers reportedly found drugs on a man accused of causing a disturbance at a family member’s home over the weekend.

According to the Hamlet Police Department, 25-year-old Roderick Randall Evans was at a relative’s home on Spring Street Saturday and was asked to leave, but refused.

Police were called to the scene and arrested Evans on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree trespassing.

During a search of his person, the arresting officer allegedly found 2 grams of meth and a pipe.

Evans was additionally charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Richmond County Jail where he remained Tuesday afternoon under a $5,000 secured bond.

Online records show Evans has no other pending charges or previous criminal convictions in North Carolina. He is scheduled to appear in court April 29.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
