Rockingham Police allegedly find meth on larceny suspect

ROCKINGHAM — A man suspected of stealing from a local retailer reportedly had outstanding warrants — and meth.

According to an incident report, an officer with the Rockingham Police Department responded to a larceny call around 11 a.m. May 22 at Walmart.

The officer reportedly saw the suspect, 24-year-old Kever Shonone Rowell of Rockingham, in the parking lot of Falling Creek Plaza.

(Note: Online state records show Rowell’s middle name also spelled “Shonome.”)

Rowell allegedly had on his person less than a tenth of a gram of a clear crystal-like substance, presumed to be methamphetamine, and a syringe.

Records show Rowell was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor larceny. The incident report appears to show Rowell was also served with orders for arrest for failure to appear on charges of shoplifting, misdemeanor larceny, and breaking or entering a motor vehicle.

He is being held on a combined $37,000 secured bond and has court dates scheduled for June 9, 13, 16 and 17 in Richmond County, June 15 in Moore County and June 28 in Guilford County.

Online court records show Rowell has the following pending charges in Richmond County:

2020 – shoplifting or concealment of goods, first-degree trespassing
