ROCKINGHAM - The Ol Skool Tribe will hold its 5th annual Autism Ride, ‘Riding For A Cause’ April 28, 2018.

This year, all proceeds will go to Pence Place, a nonprofit care facility assisting special needs children.

The Ol Skool Tribe Riding Club is known for its benefit rides as well as its support of the community. For the past four years, the club has completed benefit rides for autism, aiding both Cordova School and Sandhills Children’s Center.

This year the ride will assist Pence Place, a nonprofit care facility in Rockingham assisting special needs children. Pence Place also has locations in Mt. Gilead and Albemarle.

Gary Holt, president of Ol Skool Tribe Riding Club, stated that kickstands go up at 1:00 p.m., with riders “pulling out from the Rockingham VFW on Caroline Street, heading to Town Creek Indian Mound in Mt. Gilead, and then back to the VFW.” Holt said, “Then there will be an auction, door prizes and 50/50 tickets.”

Registration is $15/singles or $20/doubles. Meal tickets and door prize tickets are included. Extra door prize tickets can be purchased for $1.00 each or six for $5.00.

The club participates in two large rides a year. The Autism Ride takes place in April, along with a secondary ride later in the year. The secondary ride last year aided the Andy’s Charitable Foundation. According to its website, this foundation supports the Miracle League, Make-a-Wish Foundation, and other worthy causes. Of this event, Holt stated, “We had a really good turn-out. We’ll be doing that again in September.”

The Ol Skool Riding Club has also participated in the local Veterans’ Day Parade, a Toy Run for Sandhills Children’s Center, assisting homeless with food and clothing, helping individuals in need, and other charitable activities.
