LAURINBURG — Investigators in Scotland County have arrested three men and are looking for three others they say are responsible for a recent regional crime spree.

The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Unit posted to its Facebook page early Thursday that deputies there — in collaboration with the Laurinburg, Fayetteville and Rockingham police departments and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office — “arrested and secured multiple arrest warrants regarding an ongoing criminal enterprise.”

The defendants and still-at-large suspects are accused of being responsible for “a high number of breaking and enterings, burglaries, breaking and enterings into motor vehicles, larceny of motor vehicles, larceny from motor vehicles, armed robberies, larceny of firearms, and several large-scale breaking and enterings into convenience stores.”

The six who were arrested, ranging in age from 17 to 21, are accused of being involved in 31 incidents in Scotland County alone since December. They are also believed to be responsible for 20 break-ins in Fayetteville and a number of crimes in Laurinburg.

Investigators say the items stolen include vehicles, firearms, purses and financial cards, as well as electronic and cellular devices.

Officers with the SCSO and Laurinburg and Fayetteville police departments executed a search warrant “in the area of” Fourth Street in Laurinburg on Wednesday, recovering a large number of stolen items which are currently being inventoried.

Those arrested late Wednesday are:

  • Bobby Marqueet Pearson, 19, of Fourth Street, Laurinburg;
  • Devon “Devine” Revels, 18, of Beta Street, Laurinburg; and
  • Majuani Jackson, 19, of Taft Street, Laurinburg.

Investigators say the following individuals remain at large and are currently wanted on multiple felony arrest warrants:

  • Timonte “Monte” Ykwon Purvis, 21, of Leisure Living area and Bennettsville, South Carolina;
  • Jakob Shaleef Slade, 17, of Sugar Road, Laurinburg; and
  • Jalen Quick, 18, of Quick Street, Gibson.

Investigators say they may be armed and dangerous and that residents should not attempt to apprehend them, but instead call the sheriff’s office or Laurinburg PD.

According to the SCSO, the group may also be involved in incidents dating back to May, or even earlier, and those cases are still under investigation.

RCSO Chief Deputy Mark Gulledge said those arrested are persons of interest in cases here which are still under investigation and that no charges have yet been filed.

Investigators with the Hamlet Police Department say the six are persons of interest in cases under investigation in that city, as well.

The Rockingham Police Department could not be reached on Thursday.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
