HAMLET — Google is coming to Richmond County to help local businesses learn how to reach more customers online.

The tech giant will have a representative at the 2019 Blooming Business Expo on May 22 at Cole Auditorium, sponsored by the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce.

Official “Grow With Google” Trainer Demming Bass will show business owners “the latest secrets, best practices and free tools to grow your business, get more customers, and attract more repeat customers to grow your business effortlessly,” according to a press release.

Bass will give a one-hour presentation in the auditorium at 4 p.m. and meet with businesses at the Google booth from 5-7, according to Chamber President Emily Tucker.

Following an award-winning career as a chamber of commerce executive in North Carolina and Georgia, Bass led Constant Contact’s marketing efforts across six states in the Southeast, according to his biography. To date, he’s trained more than 10,000 small businesses, nonprofits and chambers on how to be better marketers. In addition to his role with Google, Bass is also a  StoryBrand Certified Guide where he works with clients around the world to improve and clarify their brand messaging strategy.

Bass will show how customers find businesses online and how to promote a business using Search Engine Optimization and Smart Campaigns in Google Ads, as well as introduce tools to help owners run their business online, including Google My Business and Google Trends.

In the workshop, Demming will discuss best practices for:

  • Creating a free Google My Business listing
  • Improving a website’s visibility in Google’s organic search results, on all devices
  • Advertising a business on Google

The first 50 attendees will get free Google swag and prizes.
