ROCKINGHAM — Police are investigating a series of property thefts across the city, including a break-in at a department store.

According to a report dated Aug. 3, someone stole several tools — a DeWalt battery operated drill, a DeWalt ¼-inch impact driver, a DeWalt 20-volt battery and charger, a Milwaukee Fuel ¼-inch impact driver, two S&K pneumatic impact drivers and a ball joint press — from the porch of a home on Richmond Road.

Another report from the same day shows that someone broke the lock on a Security Storage unit and took: a large red tool box with assorted tools; a Bosch air compressor; a Husquvarna chainsaw; a DeWalt chop saw, assorted drop cords and four truck rims and tires.

The total estimated value of those tools is nearly $7,500.

The following day, officers took a report of a bicycle —  belonging to a resident of Sumter, South Carolina — being stolen from Westside Street.

Also on Aug. 4, someone reported the theft of a 48-inch Smart TV and a 32-inch flatscreen TV from a home on John F. Kennedy Drive.

Late on Aug.9, police took a report of a break-in at Lucero’s, which happened sometime between 10:30 and 11 p.m.

The thief reportedly stole cash, $300 in miscellaneous jewelry items, $300 in boots and shoes and caused $100 in damage to the door jam.

Anyone with information on these crimes is encouraged to call the Rockingham Police Department at 910-895-2468 or Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454.
