On Monday evening, NASCAR Hall of Famer, Robert Yates, passed away after battling liver cancer for a year at the age of 74.

Yates was a legendary engine builder in NASCAR, as well as a successful team owner. His engines have propelled many great drivers to victories and led to championships.

As a team owner, Yates scored 58 wins in NASCAR, including two at Rockingham Speedway in 2000 and 2003 with Dale Jarrett. Yates also has one championship under his team from 1999, also won by Jarrett.

Other drivers who have driven under Yates Racing include Davey Allison, Ricky Rudd, and a current playoff driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Elliott Sadler.

Yates is a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2018 and he will no doubt be missed by the NASCAR family.
