Although the eye of Hurricane Dorian was south of Charleston, the storm has already caused damage across the Carolinas.

WCTI reports that tornadoes/waterspouts have been confirmed in Carteret and Onlsow counties.

One was caught on camera near the Bogue Inlet Pier Thursday morning, which caused damage at an RV park in Emerald Isle; and another was reported in the Piney Green area near Jacksonville.

Potential tornadoes have also been reported in Sunset Beach, Calabash and Myrtle Beach.

Another possible tornado struck a neighborhood in Little River, South Carolina, according to WMBF. The roof of one home was partially removed.

WCSC reports that a tree crashed into a young boy’s bedroom during the early morning hours in North Charleston and a downed powerline sparked a fire and explosion in Charleston, according to WMBF.

Emergency service was suspended in part of Georgetown County because of high winds, WMBF reported.

U.S. 17 was temporarily closed in Brunswick County due to standing water, WECT reports and another road was closed because of fallen trees.

News crews went live from Myrtle Beach to show video of a Jeep Patriot abandoned on the beach as waves crashed into it.

Curfews have been issued for many areas along the coast, as far inland as Robeson County.

WECT reports that the Wrightsville Beach Police Department charged several people Wednesday night with a misdemeanor for violating a mandatory evacuation order.

During the 11 a.m. update from the National Hurricane Center, Dorian was 80 miles east-southeast of Charleston, moving north-northeast at 8 mph with sustained winds of 110 mph, dropping the storm back down to a Category 2.

Dorian had gained strength late Wednesday and was a Category 3 during the overnight hours.

An intermediate update will be issued at 2 p.m.
