HAMLET — A South Carolina man is suspected of stealing a Richmond County band’s equipment trailer over the weekend.

Around noon Wednesday, the Hamlet Police Department released the name and photo of a suspect in the case: Darrin Coke Bryant, of Greenville, South Carolina.

According to the department, Bryant is driving a stolen red 2017 Toyota Tundra with a South Carolina 45-day tag. The tag cover has a Parks Buick GMC logo on it. The truck also has a black bed cover and a large trailer hitch.

Members of the Ponder Project discovered Sunday evening that the trailer —which was still loaded from a previous gig — had been stolen.

Police said witnesses saw the trailer being hauled down Main Street around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

The band released a list of it the stolen gear on Wednesday, asking friends and fans to be on the lookout for:

  • DW drums and hardware
  • Allan and Heath 32- and 16-channel board
  • Racks of effects
  • Carvin 4x10 and 2x10 BRX bass cabinets
  • QSC PA speakers mains and subs
  • Peavy 6505 Plus guitar head
  • Marshall 4x12 cabinets
  • Marshall guitar heads
  • Miscellaneous guitar effects pedals
  • LED stage lights and stands
  • DeWalt tool boxes with drop cords and cables
  • Keyboards
  • Sure 57 and 58 Microphones
  • Sure drum microphones

The band has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the return of the equipment.

Several members of the local music scene have stepped up to let the band borrow equipment to use for a show this Friday at Hudson Brothers Deli, which the band decided Monday was still on.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Bryant or who sees the truck is encouraged to contact the Hamlet Police Department at 910-582-2551, Richmond County Crimestoppers at 910-997-5454, or your local law enforcement agency
