WARRANTS: Man used stolen card at liquor, tobacco stores

ROCKINGHAM — A man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly making several purchases with a stolen debit card.

According to warrants, 26-year-old Damon Devante-Daequa Thomas, of Shannon Drive, Rockingham, broke into a Honda Accord on Nov. 18, stealing a First Bank debit card.

Thomas is accused of then using that card to make purchases at the ABC Store, Tobacco and Vapor 5, Henna Corner, Family Dollar and Speedway, court documents show.

Warrants did not detail the amount of the purchases or what items Thomas allegedly bought.

He was arrested Dec. 5 and charged with five counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, and one count each of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and financial card theft.

As of Tuesday afternoon,Thomas was still being held in the Richmond County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 19.

Online court records show Thomas is also facing a misdemeanor shoplifting charge in Moore County, with a Jan. 23 court date.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show no prior convictions.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
