CARTHAGE — On April 9, the Moore County Health Department was notified by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services of the remaining coronavirus (COVID-19) test results from testing administered to all residents of Pinehurst Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center on April 6 and 7.

Of the entire resident population of 96, 45 test results have returned positive. In addition, out of a staff of 115, thus far eight staff members have also tested positive. All staff members were tested. At the time of this release, not all staff member test results have been received.

The Health Department will report those results once they become available. All test results received are shared with the affected residents and their families. To protect privacy, no further information about the individuals who have tested positive will be shared by the Health Department.

Residents of the facility who have tested positive for COVID-19 are isolated from others. Staff members who test positive are ordered to isolate at home. None of the residents that have so far been diagnosed have exhibited severe symptoms or signs of respiratory distress.

Pinehurst Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center’s skilled nursing staff will continue to provide quality care to all residents, with resident and staff safety being the utmost priority. The facility will work in a coordinated effort with the Moore County Health Department to closely monitor residents and impede the further spread of COVID-19.

FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital will provide extended care to the facility’s residents or staff should their symptoms require hospitalization.

To date, Pinehurst Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center has consistently followed all local and state directives meant to curb the spread of the virus including restricting visitation of all visitors and non-essential health care personnel as well as strictly adhering to infection prevention practices.

The Moore County Health Department will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. For more information about coronavirus and Moore County’s response, please visit
