Several Local Churches to Host Holiday-Themed Events

RICHMOND COUNTY – With the Christmas season quickly approaching, many community churches and organizations are busy with planning holiday activities.


The Richmond Observer is looking to showcase information about programs and activities at Richmond County area churches for its readers. Below is a list of community churches and upcoming events:

 

Crestview Baptist

436 Crestview Drive, Rockingham, N.C.

Sunday, December 10: Cantata morning worship service.

Sunday, December 17: Children's Program and evening worship service.

Sunday, December 24: Candlelight Christmas Eve service at 9 p.m.

 

Church of the Messiah Episcopal

 202 N. Lawrence Street, Rockingham, N.C.

Tuesday, December 19: Community Blue Christmas Service at 6:30 p.m.

Several ministers from area churches will be participating. This is a service where the church recognizes within the context of worship that the holidays can be very hard for people for different reasons.

 

First Baptist Church of Hamlet

208 Charlotte Street, Hamlet, N.C.

Friday, December 1: Living Nativity event from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

This event will feature a live camel and other animals. Free homemade soup and grilled cheese will be offered inside, and outside snacks include hot chocolate and hot apple cider.

 

First Baptist Church of Rockingham

201 N. Randolph Street, Rockingham, N.C.

Sunday, December 3: Hanging of the Greens at 10:55 a.m.

Sunday, December 24: Christmas Eve service of lessons and carols at 11 a.m.

Sunday, December 24: Christmas Eve candlelight communion service at 5 p.m.

 

Freedom Baptist Church

987 N. US Highway 1, Rockingham, N.C.

Sunday, December 3: Hanging of the Greens at 6 p.m.

Saturday, December 16: Bethlehem Inn Dinner Presentation at 6 p.m.

Reservations must be made for this event and can be made by calling 910-895-3111. When guests arrive at the church, they will be escorted to the "Bethlehem Inn" for their meal and a drama presentation of the Christmas story.

 

Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Rockingham

596 East Washington Street Ext., Rockingham, N.C.

Friday, December 1, and Saturday, December 2: Scenes of Christ Drive-Through

Held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. both nights, 12 scenes of Christ’s life will be shown live. Scenes include his mother being told that she was to give birth, Jesus' humble birth in a stable, his adult life on Earth and the events leading to his earthly death and resurrection and ascension.

The event will use car narration, and feature live animals and over 100 actors. Hot chocolate and cider will be available after drive-through.

 

New Vision Free Will Baptist Church

214 Rohanen Avenue, Rockingham, N.C.

Sunday, December 17: Adult drama of Christ’s life at 11 a.m.

The church service will be having the adult drama of Christ’s life. The church welcomes anyone to attend. Everyone welcome.

 

Outreach for Jesus

440 Battley Dairy Road, Hamlet, N.C.

Sunday, December 10 and 17: Christmas singing and program will be held at 7 p.m.

 

Second Baptist Church of Hamlet

518 4th street, Hamlet, N.C.

Saturday, December 9: Scenes of Christmas Walk-Through

The event will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and is presented by Second Baptist Church and Second Baptist Christian Academy.

 

Southside Free Will Baptist Church

660 Sandy Ridge Church Road, Ellerbe, N.C.

Friday, December 1: Hanging of the Greens at 5 p.m.

Sunday, December 10: Singing Christmas Tree service at 5 p.m.

Sunday, December 17: Children’s Play at 5 p.m. (Santa will visit the children after).

Sunday, December 24: Christmas Eve Adult play all services at 5 p.m.

 

Summit Southern Church

Saturday, December 2: Christmas lights trip to McAdenville (leaving at 3 p.m.)

Sunday, December 17: Christmas meal after church service.
